A 56 year old man from Kastoria, northern Greece, and an old woman from the island of Lesvos are the latest victims of the coronavirus pandemic in Greece, bringing the death toll to 40.
There are 1,156 Covid-19 patients in our country, 67 of them hospitalized in ICUs.
The ministries of Finance, Development and Labor announced a third-package of measures this morning to support the economy. This package of measures aims to support enterprises and employees affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Among the measures announced is an Easter-holiday benefit, financing of debts and interest rates by 100% for the next 3 months, as well as a 800 euro benefit to scientists.
A specially designed Aegean aircraft carrying 1.7 million surgical masks from China, donated by Onassis Foundation and the Greek shipowners foundation landed at Eleftherios Venizelos airport this morning.
According to government sources, with a series of flights expected to be completed within the week, more than 13 million surgical masks and personal protective equipment are scheduled to arrive in our country.
This is the largest donation of sanitary supplies from Greece to date.
The suspension of operation of all places of worship will be extended to April 11 according to a joint ministerial decision issued on Sunday.
The joint Education and Religion and Health Ministries decision said that the extension of the measure is necessary for the protection of the public health against the spread of the coronavirus.
A new joint ministerial decision on the extension of the retail shops closure until 11 April was issued on Sunday and refers to 66 sectors of the economy.
From the measures are excluded the e-commerce and phone-commerce services with home delivery as well as mobile phone services.
Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis- publishing the new ministerial decision -said that the quarantine will surely last until Easter (19 April) and explained that the country has done well in the management of the coronavirus crisis and would be a huge mistake the virus to be transferred from Athens to other parts of Greece with the Easter holidaymakers, in an interview with SKAI TV on Sunday.
Greek scientists are optimistic of the coronavirus spread course in Greece. According to the latest figures released by the National Health Organization, 47.2 percent of those hit by the virus are between 40 and 64 years of age, 26.8% between 18 and 40 and 23 percent the elderly.
